It has been a fulfilling week of Black Girl Magic and Black Boy Joy for the culture. Entertainment has been at an all time high for thrills with news of another Disney live-action make starring Halle of Color x Halle and today was another treat. News was announced that Ryan Destiny was going to have a recurring role on Grown-ish. Production for Season 3 began today which prompted the network to release the news and everyone shared all the excitement together.
Destiny isn’t a stranger to script TV series, as she’s bee seen on AMC’s crime drama Low Winter Sunand lead in Fox’s musical drama series Star. Grown-ish is an ABC Network spin-off from it’s parent show, literally, Black-ish which has massed tremendous success with it’s nationwide real-life family relatability. Destiny will play Jillian, who’s a transfer student from an HBCU coming to study filmmaking at Cal U. Although she’s the new girl on the block, Jillian is described as “smart, worldly, and cultured,” being able to adapt to the many different faces at Cal U. from the artsy crowd to the mini-politicians on campus. Destiny will join lead castmates like Luka Sabbat, Trevor Jackson, Yara Shahidi, and Chloe x Halle and her eccentric girl squad.
Although everyone is biting their nails waiting for the beauty to get back the small screen, you can catch Season 3 of Grown-is now Wednesdays at 8pm.
