Issa Rae is the unpronounced Culture Queen in every way. The Emmy’s is her playground when it comes to making a true statement like her 2017 moment where she broke the internet saying, “I’m rooting for everybody black.”

Truly being the embodiment of her comments both on and off the screen as she employs many people and talents of color with her many businesses and projects, she always puts her best foot forward for the culture on the Red Carpet. Tonight was no different. Wearing a custom number by ALIÉTTE, founded by her stylist Jason Rembert, she stunned the crowd showing truth behind the timeless statement less more. The captivating silver number appeared to be a luxury mesh with a low cut spaghetti strap style neckline. Yet, the real glam and photo maker was Rae’s glam. Known for her infectious smile, she added a small lift to one of her trademarks.

Hitting the Red Carpet with a diamond grill from Grillz By Scotty, she flaunted the custom grill with the signature pinky pull down pose with her gorgeous smile, and new accessory, on full display. She complimented the grill with sculptural diamond earrings and fine dainty rings by Fernando Jorge and MARLI. To complete the entire look she graced a hauntingly beautiful purple eyeshadow, all of which can be purchased at the local drugstore. While documenting the “get-ready-with-me process on her Instagram stories, her make-up artist Joanna Simkin spilled on the look.

Simkin stated the makeup look was inspired by the custom Aliétte dress, “The beautiful custom Aliette felt like a nod to the “70s, Studio 54 and disco glam. I was instantly inspired to do a sparkly purple eyeshadow and fluttery lashes to accentuate Issa’s gorgeous features while playing up a bold statement eye.” Rae’s entire glam was created using affordable make-up line e.l.f. cosmetics with the entire look running no more than about $20. Issa is nominated at tonight Emmy Awards for Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series and her executively produced show A Black Lady Sketch, nominated for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.
