Something everyone can agree on is how tiresome the year 2020 has been. The never-ending year is finally coming to a close and hopefully leaving the troubles, pain, and loss it’s caused right where it is – the past. To bring some true vibes into the closing, JAY-Z with a specially curated project to at least give some good energy.
Titled 2020 Vision COVID-19, the project is a 40-track playlist including sounds from a wide range of artist. Opening with eccentric sounds from Jay Electronica, it flows on with Beyoncé, Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, DJ Khaled, and more. As a powerful statement, the artwork cover for the playlist includes that of a photo of tennis superstar Naomi Osaka rocking a face mask with the name of the late George Floyd, the unarmed black man killed viciously killed at the hands of law enforcement. Standing on the principle that music is medicine for the soul, this installment of tunes comes after the playlists Couple Songs From 2020 (So Far) and Songs for Survival 2, which JAY-Z also curated in tribute to Alton Sterling and Philando Castile — also two Black men who died at the vicious hands of police.
