So here we are, again. Another unarmed black man killed at the hands of those that took a vow to serve and protect, whom now resulted to taking a knee to kill and neglect. In the midst of a global pandemic, on an essential run to the grocery unfortunately turned out to be the last time that George Floyd would be able to do, well.. anything. In a gut-wrenching, disgusting video which disturbingly documented the Floyd’s final moments. The police were called to the location resulting of the “thought” of a $20 check was counterfeit – regardless shouldn’t have ended in a senseless death.

The invisible, centuries old target on the backs of blacks have grown exponentially as the acceptance of disregard has been made valid as the “leader of the free world” has imminently vocalized his own racist attacks, amongst many other constitutional violations. George Floyd is just another strike on the list of unarmed black men that are killed by policemen due to the racist and utter lack of respect when it comes to the African-American culture, yet this has proven to be the final strike. The death of this Black man spread globally and revealed the strength of unity and power to break divisive behavior amongst African Americans sparking global protest and riots including every walk of life.

Celebrities, politicians, law enforcement, activists, and the regular civilian combined forces to draw the line of when enough is enough. When Lebron James posted a side by side collage of the knee of former officer Derek Chauvin, against the 2016 protest initiated by Colin Kaepernick the Black Lives Matter movement received the endless refill of gasoline it has always deserved. Sparking petitions of all sorts and protest and riots amongst thousands across the entire globe demanding justice for one far too many deaths by police prejudice. Almost immediately all of the officers involved were fired from their “service” of police work. At a mid-morning press conference on Tuesday, Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey spoke very directly about the horrific instance caught on camera. Being black in America should not be a death sentence,” Frey said. “What we saw is horrible, completely and utterly messed up.” Continuing at a Thursday press conference Frey expressed his thoughts on the protests stating, “What we’ve seen over the last two days…is the result of so much built-up anger and sadness. Anger and sadness that has been ingrained in our black community, not just because of five minutes of horror but 400 years. If you’re feeling that sadness and that anger, it’s not only understandable, it’s right.”
