It’s always honor when the culture truly wins. It’s been a roller coaster of a year for “old Town Road” artist Lil Nas X as he’s topped charts re-writing history, made unparralled music, and created many timeless moments on the many red carpets he’s graced.
Now to add another landmark achievement, he’s become the youngest and first openly gay male on the Forbes “Highest Paid Country Acts” list. Lil Nas made a huge statement on the industry with the controversy surrounding his debut hit ‘Old Town Road’ when Billboard attempted to remove the greatness from the charts as it gained huge popularity that the song was not a “real” country song. He didn’t let that stop him and collaborated with Country legend Billy Ray Cyrus creating a remix which ultimately went on to become the longest charting Number 1 song in history. The moment elevated Nas X into a superstar and the rest has been literal history.
He enters the charts with at No. 18 with an immensely impressive $14 million. In addition to being the youngest on the roster, he’s also the only African American as well, proudly. The “Old Town Road” triumph led a record 19 weeks on the Billboard singles charts and became the first single to earn a diamond certification while still rising on the charts. A true trailblazer, Lil Nas X has surpassed the pedigree and created a new narrative and standard on Black Success in the millennial generation.
