The buzz around Kanye West latest project, Jesus Is King, has been busy. Before now the project was seemingly delayed indefinitely, until today. Following a ticket launch by IMAX, West release the the trailer for the forthcoming documentary behind the album. The film is directed by Nick Knight and is said it “features songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition along with new music from his forthcoming album Jesus Is King — all presented in the immersive sound and stunning clarity of The IMAX Experience.”
The trailer is a short one minute and twelve seconds and only gives a sound of what’s to come. The trailer highlights a never-before-seen visual of Roden Crater installation in Arizona’s Painted Desert and is seemingly the focal point. The trailer opens with a heart filling tunes of gospel full of soul and worship as the camera moves toward the open light of the illustration revealing a bible verse from Mark 1:15 reading “In the words of Jesus Christ, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel.’”
In conjunction with the films release, there’s been a new album release date. The news comes after a listening party held at the George Washington University Lisner Auditorium dubbed the Kanye West Experience. Post the festive event attendees went frantic to Twitter with news of the tentative date as October 25th and West confirmed the details himself.
