Meek Mill has been on a mission of transforming all negatives into positives any way that one is presented to him. Being prevalently vocal about criminal justice reform and bringing light onto the injustices of the African American community has put the rapper at the forefront of the spearheading movement, and all a little shy of just a year since is release from prison. Meek has already done tremendous work towards the further development for not only himself, but for the community of artist like himself. Today was a phenomenal display of that push towards greatness as news was released of a joint venture between himself and industry colleague and friend, Jay-Z.
The collaboration comes under Mr. Carters moniker RocNation, a leading developmental company in the field of entertainment, sports, and brand development. The merge comes perfectly as Meek is very focused on his passion for helping artist grow into the levels they desire. “I think the time is now,” Meek says to R.S. “I’m 32 years old, I’m in a nice spot in the music business and I think it’s time for me to focus on growing artists because that’s what I love to do. I love to spend time on helping artists grow, and I think it’s time for me to dive in, business-wise.” Meek Mill will serve as the president of Dream Chasers, the name of his a previous series of mixtapes turned Label. Holding Jay-Z at a high honor referring to him as “the snowplow that made it easier for me to walk through snowstorms,” the sentiments are definitely reciprocated. Mr. Carter stood tall on the principle of the strength of their relationship and continuing to change the way the game is handled that the entertainers like them practically built.
The new label’s focus is primarily on sharing the knowledge, wealth, and guidance they both received navigating through the industry and ultimately “overarching view” to create the same opportunities and have ownership and control over the content and legacies they build. As the company is very fresh, the two remained tight lipped about any signees or plans in the near future but can expect some major announcements within the coming months. RocNation already has the high regard talents like J.Cole, Belly, Rihanna, Vic Mensa, and more – so we can only be just as excited about the new venture and the high success to come.
