‘Ho don’t step on my Raf Simmons’
Now I’ve seen some hot visuals in my day – but have you ever seen a mini-runway show in a Music Video? Yea, I don’t think I had either until yesterday afternoon when style-breaking Rapper A$AP Rocky debuted the official video for ‘Raf’.
It’s no surprise of the beloved Relationship between an Artist & his favorite Designer. Jay-Z to Tom Ford, Lil’ Kim to Versace, and now you have A$AP to Raf Simons. Simons is definitely a breakout designer for the Year including his collaboration with Adidas that sold out in merely a few hours. Rocky’s admiration for Simons hit an all-time high when he released his video for single titled ‘Raf’ ft. Playboi Carti, Quavo, Frank Ocean, & Lil Uzi Vert – all of which dawned in decadent pieces from Simons Runway collections (excluding Lil’ Uzi Vert & Frank Ocean who aren’t present in the video.
Directed by film expert, Alec Eskander, the inspiration of the short-short film came from Simons 1995 debut visual F|W LookBook. Beginning with an ode to Simons Spring 2002 Runway Show where the models daringly walked the catwalk with Mask and Flares all the way to the current 2014 collection. Matthew Henson, the man behind the Icons iconic looks, briefed on how rare the pieces were – going on to say that they were handpicked by the 3 from Raf’s Archived collection(s).
